Foligno and Assisi are linked to each other by the figure of Saint Francis. It was in the main square of Foligno, now Piazza della Repubblica, that the Saint from Assisi gave to poors all his possessions, starting his path of life in poorness and peace. Foligno is considered "Lu Centro de lu Munnu" the centre of the world and the Rose of Umbria. The city is located in the middle of a splendid valley sourrended by medieval villages like Spello, Bevagna and Montefalco. Foligno is also at the bottom of the Appennini Mountains with their natural parks like the Subasio and the Colfiorito that are perfect for trekking or mountain bike.
